I’ve been finishing up a project with Kristina Nyland, Joan Wrobel, and Jenny Greene to characterize the radio emission of galaxies from the MASSIVE survey (Pa et al. 2013). Of the 116 survey galaxies, we targeted 98 with the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) at C-band (4-8 GHz) in the C configuration. These galaxies are nearby (within 108 Mpc) early-type galaxies with stellar-mass ranges of over 1011.5M☉, occupying a critical and as-of-yet systematically unexamined parameter space of massive red galaxies at low redshifts. With this study, and through combining our data with radio observations of the complimentary ATLAS3D sample (Nyland et al. 2015), we aim to provide a robust statistical framework in which to investigate what relationship radio continuum emission might have with ETG properties and their accretion-powered nuclei.
Our paper is currently in prep., so please stay tuned! ✌︎
